A library of the most valuable tools of the trade, the hardest won lessons, and battle-tested wisdom, for teams and leaders.
SECRET WEAPONS
Welcome to the Library
I learned from Bridget Frey, the indomitable Chief Technology Officer at Redfin, that if you find yourself having the same conversation more than three times, you need a document.
My writing is a direct response to her guidance, a work in progress, and an attempt to distill the most valuable tools I’ve discovered and built, the patterns that work across industries and market cycles, and the essential conversations I’ve had dozens, sometimes hundreds of times in the throes of the growing and dismantling teams.
I call this collection Secret Weapons, because the ideas are so simple and make so much sense. They were never taught to me, but I wish they had been. I hope it helps.
Like all the best tools, these will improve with training and use.
Like the libraries I love the best, this is an offering and an invitation. It is free, safe and open to all.
Come on in.
Thinking in Three Time Frames
As the leader of a scaling team, it is your job to keep your team connected in the heat of the churn. Explicit shared language about time frames is one of the simplest and most effective ways to do this. These are the three I cannot live without.
